A little about our founder and how she started Irish dancing and selling Irish dance shoes. I am just like you… I was first introduced to Irish dancing in 1975 when my nephew was dancing and competing in Irish dancing including the World’s competition held in Ireland.  I loved it then and now have been dancing steadily since 1996 as an adult dancer.  I’m hooked!  I’m just like most adult Irish dancers – learning as an adult, but with the heart of one much younger.  When I finally found a certified teacher with an adult-friendly school (Judy DeNapoli of St. Brendan’s in Denver, Colorado), I started dancing in earnest.  I had a one problem though – and that was getting shoes.  Judy brought my first pair of reel shoes back to me when she went to World’s.  Even there she only had a choice of a few brands.  Buying hard shoes were pretty much the same story at an Irish dance competitions with only one brand from which to choose.  So, I decided to start Celtic Merchant where dancers would have CHOICES in the brands they purchase.  Slowly we built up to where we are now: carrying three lines of hard shoes and seven lines of soft shoes, which includes the reel shoes for boys and men.  We think that choices in the brands of shoes are very important and we hope to have your favorite.  We have many items that dancers are looking for: dance music, dance bags, instructional videos and many other dance accessories.  We also carry one of the best selections of Irish dance music.
